Construction of Early Childhood Development (ECD) Care Centre

With generous support from the LUENA Foundation, SODAC successfully constructed the Mwaiwathu Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centre in Simbi Village, Chikwawa District—creating a safe, nurturing space where 1,200 vulnerable and marginalised children aged 2 to 5 can learn, grow, and thrive. The children pictured here, standing proudly with their caregivers and SODAC staff in front of their new ECD Centre, represent more than a building; they represent hope, dignity, and a stronger start to life for children who previously had no access to early learning or reliable nutrition.

Today, this centre is transforming lives by providing early childhood education, daily meals, and a caring environment during the most critical years of child development. We are deeply grateful to the LUENA Foundation for believing in these children and investing in their future. As the need for ECD services continues to grow across rural Malawi, we invite other partners and donors to join us in expanding access to education and nutrition—because every child, regardless of where they are born, deserves a healthy, strong, and hopeful beginning.
