We are pleased to share the successful completion of our Borehole Rehabilitation Project in Simbi I Village, Simbi II Village, and Nkata I Village, all located in Traditional Authority Maseya, Chikwawa District. As shown in the accompanying pictures, the project focused on rehabilitating previously broken and non-functional boreholes, restoring access to clean and safe drinking water for rural communities that had long depended on unsafe and distant water sources.

The images also highlight one of the project’s most important achievements: community ownership and sustainability. They capture Water Points Committees (WPCs) actively engaged in borehole maintenance and repair following the hands-on training provided by our organisation. Today, these committees are confidently managing and repairing the boreholes using funds generated from monthly household water user contributions, demonstrating that the communities now have the skills, systems, and motivation to maintain their water points independently without waiting for external support.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the LUENA Foundation for their generous financial support, which made this life-changing work possible. The pictures shared alongside this write-up are a true reflection of the impact of this partnership – showing not only restored water points but also empowered communities taking charge of their own development and long-term access to clean and safe drinking water.
